Dr Robert, Kenya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs went missing from his Koru farmhouse in the early hours of Tuesday 13th February 1990. Although his body was initially found by a local herdsboy the authorities were not informed. Ouko’s body was only officially found 2.8km from his Koru farm home three days later after a police search. He had been shot once in the head, his right ankle broken and his body doused with diesel and set on fire. President Moi called in a team from New Scotland Yard to investigate, led by Detective Superintendent John Troon accompanied by Dr Ian West, a renowned pathologist. Troon and West concluded Ouko had been murdered, shot where his body was found on the morning he disappeared. Troon saw possible motives in the Washington trip and Kisumu Molasses Plant corruption. Troon’s ‘Final report’ was the basis for later allegations. But did Troon get it right? Based on thousands of pages of testimony, previously unpublished ‘secret’ and ‘confidential’ diplomatic telexes, and 100 interviews with many of the people involved, this groundbreaking documentary goes further than ever before in to the mysterious murder of Dr Robert Ouko.
