Bipolar Disorder and Social Security Disability in 2017

Описание к видео Bipolar Disorder and Social Security Disability in 2017

What does it take to win Social Security disability benefits if you are struggling with bi-polar disorder? As I discuss in this video, bi-polar disorder is an overused diagnosis, often given by family doctors who do not have specialized training in mental illness.

Social Security disability judges see references to bipolar disorder frequently and they are less likely to approve claims that do not contain evidence of a severe degree of impairment. However you can still win if your file contains the right kind of documentation.

More specifically, judges expect to see extensive treatment records covering a long period of time from both psychiatrists and psychologists. They expect to see evidence of unsuccessful mediation management and they expect non-medical evidence in the form of statements from former co-workers or supervisors, and evidence of actual problems you have had trying to work.
