Walkersville Southern: To The North!

Описание к видео Walkersville Southern: To The North!

On September 5th of 2015 we visited the Walkersville Southern Railroad in Walkersville, Maryland. They were running their 1942 EMD Model 40 on the excursions trains. Due to work on the South portion of the line the train was only allowed to go on the North portion of the line.

Shot 1: With excited cheers of the children 101 pulls into the Walkersville Station to pick up passengers for the first train of the day.

Shot 2,3,4: Here we get a close up of 101. 101 is a EMD Model 101 built by the Electro-Motive Division. She is Ex.Army used in WWII and one of only 11 built.

5: Pay attention to the crew talk in this shot and hear how the flagger communicates with the train in this shot.

6. After just arriving when the train is approaching the train crosses Devilbiss Road. From here we waited 30 mins with the flagger for the train to return.

7. 30 mins later still at Devilbiss road we get a unique shot of the farm and then panning over to see 101 crossing the road.

8. Yet again at Glade Road 101 crosses the road and makes the final approach to Walkersville. As we came to the crossing here the train was waiting for us so I didn't have a lot of time to set up.

9.Here we see 101 arriving at Walkersville, but not stopping. To my surprise the train went as far north as they could, which was only to a park not that far from the station. Also note the Nickle Plate caboose on the track to the left of the main.

10. As the church bells ring the train backs into Walkersville. Here you can see some passenger cars and a privately owned PRR N5 caboose and some MOW equipment.

11. 101 backs into the station allowing loading for the 2nd excursion train of the day.

Special thanks to the friendly volunteers of the Walkersville Southern!
