Hiking the Heaphy Track to Heaphy Hut, New Zealand

Located in the breathtaking Kahurangi National Park; this section of the Heaphy Track is a true West Coast experience. Trekking 16 KM along the wild and dramatic coastline lined with iconic Nikau palms will land you on a lush expanse of lawn in front of the Heaphy Hut.

The entire Heaphy Track is 75 KM long and one of NZ Great Walks. The full thru-hike has not been possible since Aug 2022 due to bridge damage, but is scheduled to re-open Oct 19, 2023. An overnight to Heaphy hut is a great option until the bridges are restored later this year or just as a fun short trip.
