Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) was established at Savar, Dhaka by a Presidential Ordinance in 1984 as an autonomous institution with the objectives of identifying and solving problems associated with livestock and poultry; developing techniques and knowledge for livestock and poultry production; training of resource persons for the sector; strengthening research-extension-NGO linkages; and assisting the government in policy making. The Institute constitutes eight research divisions, one support service division and two regional stations. The divisions are Animal Health, Animal Production, Poultry Production, Goat and Sheep Production, Biotechnology, Socio-economics and Marketing, System Research and Training, Planning and Technology Transfer. The regional stations are in Baghabari (Sirajganj) and Naikhongchhari (Bandarban).
Well, though the name may appear as for personnel related to BLRI, it does welcome all the people interested in BLRI's activities. This group welcomes people related to livestock & poultry research & education, veterinary profession, animal and poultry production, livestock & poultry entrepreneurs and so on..... even people caring and loving animal welfare are most welcome to share.
