‘the one was the other’ is a piece for alto flute and bass clarinet written for Conrad Marshall and Dov Goldberg as part of the Psappha “Composing for…” scheme of 2017/2018. It was recorded in March 2018. The piece is based on the play between dualism and illusion upon which Federico García Lorca (1898 – 1936) built his poem, ‘Qasida of the dark doves’. The title of this piece is a translation of twenty-first verse of the poem.
