I am not sure who started the straight left arm myth, but is has been around for a long time and has injured more golfers than other single mechanics taught in golf. It produces over 8 times your body weight on the lower back (Science & Golf July 1990).
Simple physics show that the more levers, the greater the speed of the tip of the last lever (a bullwhip is essentially an infinite lever).
Theodore P Jorgensen explains the science in his book; THE PHYSICS OF GOLF (Pages 82 to 84)
There is NO science showing that a straight left arm can produce more clubhead speed!!
