We are using package.json file from a ReactJS project and we will add comments to package.json file. If comments are accepted by react app, project will run, otherwise project will not run.

Regular comments that we add in HTML, CSS or JavsScript won't work in JSON file. But we still have another way. We can use key value pair as comments and then distinguish comments by using underscores and other accepted characters.

But if you look closely, these are not comments. These are still just key value pairs. The underscores and extra characters help us to differentiate the comment from the rest of the data in json file. But these are still key value pairs.

JSON does not support comments. It was never intended to be used for configuration files where comments would be needed. Comments we added to JSON file are included in the JSON object. These comments are treated as data and not real comments. It's best to avoid using comments in JSON file but if you have to do it, you can do it by using key value pairs.
