Written and directed by the legendary Priyadarshan, the film was produced by P.K.R. Pillai under Shirdi Sai Creations. It features an ensemble cast with Mohanlal in the lead, alongside Ranjini, Nedumudi Venu, Lizy, and Poornam Viswanathan, among others. The film’s memorable music was composed by Kannur Rajan, with Johnson scoring the background music. Mohanlal received the Kerala State Film Award's Special Jury Award for portraying Vishnu, adding another milestone to his career.
