Indigenous representation in poster history currently focuses on depictions and caricatures of Native culture. Through his exhibition and lecture, Brian Johnson highlights the Indigenous designers, fabricators, and printers that counter and subvert the dominant, colonial myth-narrative.

Brian Johnson is a partner and creative director at the design studio Polymode. He is a member of the Monacan Indian Nation and holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is the co-founder of the educational platform BIPOC Design History. He is hyper allergic to cats.
