It's Good to Be Star Alliance Gold? | United Airlines Trip Report 2022

Welcome to this Trip Report on United Airlinesvfrom Houston Bush Intercontinental to LAX!

What is it like to be a Star Alliance Gold flying United when your Gold Status is not with United? In my case, I have it through Asiana, Asiana Diamond. It's not too bad. But you don't get all the perks that a United Mileage Premier with elite status gets.

You get Premier Access. This means I get to use premier check-in, slightly extra and free luggage to check and Group 1 boarding.

We get a seat among the preferred seats, not Economy Plus which are closer to the front. This is available to me at check-in.

The other benefit I get is access to United Club, even on this domestic only flight!

I'm flying an Airbus A320 this morning. United's A320s are old. The cabins definitely look quite dated. The seats are fine. The service was pleasant.

This trip earned me 75% of the miles between IAH and LAX, which I credited all to Asiana, which will help me maintain my Star Alliance Gold status.
