Pithla Bhakri

Bhakri made from Jowar & enjoyed with Besan sabzi called Pithala. One of the most popular Maharashtrian staple dishes. Must try. It’s yum.

Pithala Ingredients:
1 cup besan (gram flour)
1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
Salt as per taste
Pinch off hing (asafoetida)
1.5 cup Water
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp rai (Mustard Seeds)
1 tsp jeera (Cumin Seeds)
3 garlic cloves chopped
1 onion chopped
2 -3 chopped green chillies
10-12 kadi patta (Curry Leaves)
Fresh Coriander

Jowar Bhakri Ingredients:
1 cup Jowar atta (Sorghum)
Salt as per taste
Warm water 1/2 cup or as per needed

Method:

For Pithala:
In a bowl, add besan, turmeric powder, salt ,hing and water
Mix it
I used 1 and half cup water keep it aside.
Heat a pan
add oil, rai, jeera, garlic , onion, green chillies, curry leaves
sauté till onion are cooked
Now add besan mixture and stir
Cook on Medium heat
Continuously cook it for 7-8 minutes
Now add fresh coriander mix it well .

For Bhakri
In a plate, add jowar atta, salt as per taste and make medium soft dough using warm water.
Take 1 portion of Dough and sprinkle some jowar atta on the plate
Now flatten dough using your hand and make bhakri.
Heat a Tawa nicely and and put bhakari on tawa
Apply some water and spread immediately
Water helps prevent cracks in bhakhri.
Cook from both side
Pithala & Bhakhri is ready; serve with onion and enjoy.
