Tyranid Warrior Magnetization Guide

Magnetization requires extra effort during assembly, but gives you the flexibility to use a model with any of its equipment and be future-proofed against Warhammer 40K rules changes.

In this guide I demonstrate how to magnetize a Tyranid Warrior with the Boneswords, Scything Talons, and Venom Cannon options. The same principles will apply to any other melee weapon, and can be extrapolated to larger models like Hive Tyrants and Carnifexes.

My recommended magnet sizes are 3mm x 2mm and 3mm x 1mm neodymium disc magnets, in the N48-N52 strength range. For monstrous creatures, 5mm x 2mm are perfect for arms and arm sockets.

Be sure to buy your magnets from a reputable source. Some Chinese manufacturers misrepresent the strength of their magnets, so they may be labeled N52 but are actually significantly weaker. I get mine from JC Magnetics. Two other good stores are K&J Magnetics and Frenergy Magnets.
