Angel Island Bike Camping

Описание к видео Angel Island Bike Camping

An easy ferry ride from San Francisco and a great beginner bike camping trip - we camped overnight at Campsite #2 , visited the ( very informative) immigration station, hiked up Mount Livermore ( the highest point of Angel Island at 788 ft) and cycled the 5 mile perimeter of the island the next morning!

Ten thousand years ago this island was part of the mainland - Angel Island was created by rising oceans at the end of an ice age. It served as an immigration station until 1940, and now is inhabited only by deer, raccoons, bird ( scrub jays, hummingbirds, flickers, hawks and owls), and a small community of about 30 residents, all of whom work on the island.
The Angel Island mole , endemic to the island, is not found anywhere else in the world, but they are secretive creatures and we did not see one!
