The Breitling Transocean Day & Day in 43mm stainless steel is the ideal modern Breitling for fans of the brand who aren't feeling the "Breitling for Bentley" vibe. Neither oversized nor overwrought, the Transocean Day & Date channels the charm of the original 1958 Breitling Transocean with timeless details and modern refinement.

Since Breitling's 2011 reboot of the Transocean lineup, the models of this family have been dedicated to those Breitling collectors who favor vintage watches, versatile styles, subtle details, traditional proportions, and time-tested lines. This Transocean Day & Date borrows elements from both the beloved 1950s Breitling Datora series and its contemporary peer, the first Breitling Transocean.

Breitling matches traditional proportions of dial, lugs, and bezel with a case of contemporary dimensions: 43mm. Each element reads with the coherence of the mid-century originals, but the wrist presence is unmistakably 21st-century. Clever details like the stepped junctions of lugs and case, the shallow inclined bezel, and the "bubble" curvature of the tall sapphire crystal (in the fashion of a vintage Plexi) impart complexity and character to the composition of the polish steel case.

Breitling's Transocean Day & Date dial is the image of vintage elegance. A classic crosshair partition splits the black watch face into quartiles in a manner evocative of 1950s greats (Omega Constellation, JLC Geophysic, and '58 Breitling Transocean). The day/date apertures are discreet and well-integrated; applied hour markers with outboard lume plots provide outstanding legibility.

Breitling equips the Transocean Day & Date with an automatic winding caliber 45 movement. It's both a COSC-certified Swiss chronometer and able to stop its balance (hack the seconds hand) for precise synchronization to an accurate reference clock. The 42-hour power reserve ensures that if worn as a daily companion, the Day & Date will require correction only five times per year (the months of nonstandard length).

With 100m (330ft) of rated water resistance, the Breitling Transocean Day & Date is suitable for water use when placed on a metal bracelet or water-tolerant strap.
