I got invited out to a duck hunt to Grand Pass. I have never been hunting on public ground like this before so the waking up at 2:30 in the morning, standing in the draw line, and beating people to a duck hole was a new experience for me.

It was a roller coaster of feelings. I woke up excited because I have heard so many awesome stories about Grand Pass from people who have hunted it. Then standing in the building waiting to see what Pill we got. We didn't hit the water until 6:30 and that only seemed the beginning of a bad day. I thought it would be impossible to get a successful hunt in with how much time was waisted.

It turned out to be a great hunt after all. Just a lot of work had to be put in for it. Our group put the time in and made a good hole in the ice, where other groups got discouraged and left.

Out of 11 groups that stayed to try to hunt that day, we were the most successful of them all.
