Описание к видео Homeostasis and Proteins Physiology | Basic Body Functions

Homeostasis is one of the basic concepts of physiology. It is essential to maintain a system such as the human body in a more-or-less steady state.

It is the responsibility of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems in the body to maintain numerous variables within narrow ranges that are compatible with life. Continuous monitoring of the internal environment is required to maintain a stable internal environment and make adjustments to keep things in balance.

In this physiology video, we will talk about:
🟠 Role of different systems of the body in maintaining Homeostasis
🟠 Components of the Homeostatic System
🟠 Mechanisms of Action of a homeostatic system
🟠 Protein physiology

▬ 📃 Homeostasis - Role of different systems of the body ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Cell Homeostasis is the ability not to divert from the range of favorable or ideal internal conditions. Such conditions must be kept constant to support life. Maintaining a stable internal condition is crucial to any form of living thing. Various physiological strategies are employed to maintain the proper functioning of a system despite the external environment’s dynamicity. Some of the physiological functions and systems that we have discussed in this video are:
🔵 Body Temperature
🔵 pH Level
🔵 Nutrients and Oxygen
🔵 Hormones and Electrolyte
🔵 Blood
🔵 Skeletal Muscles
🔵 CNS and ANS

You can watch the video to learn about the details.

👉 Components of the Homeostatic System

The homeostatic system comprises three components

👉 Sensors
These are the receptors present throughout the body that receive stimulus.

👉 Control Center
The sensor relays the information to designated control centers. For example, in case of a rise in body temperature, the signal is relayed to the hypothalamus in the brain.

👉 Effectors
These are the organs, gland, muscle, or other structure that acts on the signal from the control center to move the variable back toward the set point.

▬ 📜 Mechanism of Action ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Homeostatic mechanisms that respond to a perturbation may be in the form of a looping mechanism called a feedback mechanism that may be positive or negative.

👉 Positive feedback
Maintains the direction of the stimulus. It tends to accelerate or promote the effect of the stimulus. Examples of positive feedback loops include blood clotting and childbirth.

👉 Negative feedback
It is a self-regulatory system and is employed in various biological systems. It reverses the direction of the stimulus and tends to inhibit the source of the stimulus or slow down the metabolic process. Examples of negative feedback include thermoregulation etc.

▬ 📃 Protein Structures ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Protein has various roles in your body. It helps repair and build your body's tissues, allows metabolic reactions to take place, and coordinates bodily functions. In addition to providing your body with a structural framework, when proteins act as buffers, they also maintain proper pH and fluid balance.
🟢 Homeostasis is essential for the normal function and formation of protein molecules.

Four structural forms of proteins are:
🔴 Primary Structure of Proteins
🔴 Secondary Structure of Proteins
🔴 Tertiary Structure of Proteins
🔴 Quaternary Structure of Proteins
