JBL Biotope Aquarium Contest is organized every year. Contest has two stages - the first stage is photo contest: participants from all over the world can send photos of their biotope aquariums. Team of judges evaluates these aquariums and chooses the best tanks. Finalists are invited to Sankt Petersburg, to ZooSphere zoological fair, for "live" stage of the contest - I mean, finalists set up aquariums at the fair. I was invited to be a judge of this contest, and so I went to Sankt Petersburg on 20-23 November 2013, to visit ZooSphere 2013 fair, and to film all contest aquariums (and all other aquariums, as well :) ).

And now some description of biotope aquariums taking part in the "live" stage:

00:21 - First place, Eurasia, designed by Petra Bašić from Croatia. This tank imitates fragment of Chalakudy river in Western Ghats mountain range in India.

00:38 - Second place, North America, designed by Anastasia Melnikova from Russia. This aquarium imitates fragment of Ichetucknee springs in Florida, USA.

00:54 - Third place, South America, designed by Evgenia Moiseyeva from Russia. This aquarium imitates fragment of Essequibo river, near the city of Rockstone, Guyana.

01:10 - Fourth place, Africa, designed by Vera Gldyshenko from Russia. This aquarium imitates fragment of bank of Malebo pool, located at the border of Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo.

01:26 - Fifht place, Australia & Oceania, designed by Nicolai Myzhichuk from Ukraine. This aquarium imitates fragment of stream at the beginning of the Sepik river in Papua New Guinea.
