Yo m`enamori d`un aire | Avventura Barocca & Maya Amir

We’re excited to share our second single, 𝗬𝗼 𝗺’𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿í 𝗱’𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲, from our live album, 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗱𝗶 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶!

This heartfelt song is sung in Ladino (Judeo-Spanish), a language rich with history and personal meaning. Inspired by my grandfather, Haim Gigi, who carried the traditions of Ladino music from his roots in Spain, Algeria, and Egypt, this piece celebrates the cultural and musical heritage he passed down.

The score we found of 𝗬𝗼 𝗺’𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿í 𝗱’𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 includes only a melody, therefore, we had to arrange the song "from scratch". That emerged an interesting process which made Maya Amir compose a melody based on the rhythm pattern of the French Baroque dance 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙙. You can listen to this melody at the beginning of the song played as a dialogue between the Double Harp and the Viola da Gamba. As the song develops, we included several improvisations which increases the emotion and connection between the voice and the instruments.

Sharing this music is a milestone for us in @Avventura Barocca. It embodies our commitment to exploring diverse musical traditions and breathing life into centuries-old stories.
