The intensity of the first earthquake, which occurred at around 04:17 in the morning on 02.06.2023, was announced as 7.7. This first earthquake occurred in Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık district.

The pool you watch in the video is 55 km away from Pazarcık.

The second earthquake occurred in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş at 13.24. The intensity of the second earthquake was announced as 7.6. Elbistan is 215 km from this pool.

Although the second earthquake was both farther from the pool and as low as 0.1, you can see that the pool was more severely affected in the second earthquake. I guess this may be due to the direction of the "P" and "S" earthquake waves coming into the pool.

I heard the following information from a geophysics professor on TV: Two 7.6 earthquakes are equivalent to one 7.7 earthquake. Therefore, it shows that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 instead of 7.6 has twice the energy.
