The fakie big flip is an intermediate skateboarding flip trick consisting of a half rotation and single flip of the board combined with a half rotation of the body from the fakie stance. As the name implies, to begin this trick you must start in the fakie position. But first, it is important to learn the fakie big spin and the 360 flip in order to get a feel for the spin and flip of the fakie big flip.

The fakie big flip can be considered in two different ways: a half cab varial kickflip or a fakie 360 with a 180. Either consideration will create the same trick; it is up to you to figure out which works best for your personal success.

The ideal foot placement for the fakie big flip is entirely subjective. Personally, I like to maintain somewhat of a fakie 360 flip position.

Begin this trick with your dominant foot on the nose, otherwise known as the fakie stance. Wind your shoulders behind you and then unwind them as you prepare to pop the board. Scoop and flick the board simultaneously whilst rotating your body above. As the board completes its journey and returns right-side up, catch it with both feet and then go tell your friends!

The fakie big flip is complex combination of flip trick variations that will require specific skill and precise maneuvering. The most common hurdles that I encountered when learning this trick were: incorrect and uncontrolled flipping and catching the board too far toeside. In order to rectify these issues, I practiced and honed the constituent flip tricks and focused on placing my weight over my heels, respectively.
