This is a short video showing painting wet in wet loosely with my new Ron Ranson hake brushes.

I was going to do a long video of painting a large watercolour but it all went wrong as happens sometimes so I needed to improvise. This small watercolour is from Tony Smibert's Book (Turners Apprentice: A Watercolour Masterclass) which anyone who is interested in watercolour should buy. You can use the links below that are affiliate but I earn almost nothing from that so I really don't mind either way. He is an amazing watercolourist with a wealth of knowledge that he passes along freely.

The colours used were:
Yellow Ochre
Cadmium Red
Cobalt Blue
Mix of Cobalt Blue and Light Red

This was painted on an A5 size piece of Rives BFK etching paper 280gsm but you could use any cold pressed, medium good quality paper.

The brushes used were the Ron Ranson Hake Brushes as mentioned and my Pure Kolinsky round sable size 12.

This was extremely simple and the base that could be used for many styles of painting with different details.

Rives BFK etching paper. Probably best to source this from your local store so you can look after the paper and not have it posted unless you are buying a large amount of paper and it will be looked after. There is nothing worse than getting hundreds of sheets all with a indent in them. Having said that you can actually source this paper from amazon:

I love this paper it is soft and lights are lifted easily from it.
