Go beyond the track with Jordan, Frank and Scott as they debrief Round 4 at Knockhill. Hear their honest reflections, performance analysis and what’s in store as they look ahead to the next stage of the championship.
(0:09 Jordan) After a difficult few weeks, obviously after Glenn's injury, it's been a challenge but we're happy to have him fit back in like it's an old slipper.
(0:21) This time he's got a wife and a baby in tow so there's a change there and a change in the sense of my dad's no longer around so it's now Frank and I.
(0:30) So far so good and he's done a lot more than we could have expected so soon anyway.
(0:34 Frank) Yeah, I mean it's been good so far. A lot of the fans think it's easy just getting a rider mid-season, it's not just a plug and play type thing.
(0:41) So it's a lot of legal stuff going on, contracts and you've got to keep sponsors happy, the championship and all this type of stuff.
(0:47) So we managed to get it over the line and it's not often you can get a replacement rider at his level mid-season so he's a bit of an asset to us at this point.
(0:56) So yeah, looking forward to seeing what he can do today and obviously we wish Glenn a speedy recovery. (1:01) Although it's a different crew than when he was here in 2019, it's the base of the team still here really isn't it? (1:07) And obviously it's a similar sort of bike that he's riding in World Superbikes so it's easier in that aspect. (1:12) But to come to Knockhill in the weather that we've had this weekend and doing what he's done so far is pretty impressive really.
(1:18 Scott) So we're here at Knockhill and we are done and dusted here, more done and soaked because it rained pretty much all day today.
(1:25) We were hoping to get a bit of dry track time, but it tried but it didn't.
(1:29) Overall the weekend's been very challenging for me, we've had different weather conditions on Friday, Saturday and today.
(1:36) I would have preferred dry racing but unfortunately the weather had different.
(1:41) So for me it was a big testing day today in the rain trying to understand the bike, what it needed.
(1:46) We got a top 10 in that last race, it was two red flags, a bit of chaos.
(1:51) But overall, I've been very happy, the team's been very accommodating, very relaxed which was nice because
(1:56) I came here, I jumped onto Glenn's bike and kind of went from there.
(2:00) I didn't take anything from my World Superbike setup because it wouldn't work, I believe, here at Knockhill.
(2:05) So was left in no man's land really and we did the best we could do.
(2:09) The P4 in the dry race yesterday, had to go through Q1, Q2.
(2:14) So we made it as difficult as we could make it and we did the best job we could do.
(2:19) And I want to thank these two for giving me that opportunity and inviting me to Knockhill.
(2:24 Jordan) I think from our side it's been a really positive weekend.
(2:28) We couldn't really ask for more, I think it's a shame we didn't have a bit more dry running (2:31) because the P4 in the first race was telling of the direction we were going in.
(2:36) So who knows, it's getting back when there's no crashes at World Superbikes
(2:40) and see if we can bring some trophies home.
(2:42 Frank) We've had everything thrown at us this weekend.
(2:44) We've had sun, wind, too much rain.
(2:48) I don't think many riders could have stepped in and done the job that Scott has done.
(2:53) So, yeah, credit to him and I'm glad he settled in well
(2:56) and hopefully we can get him back for another couple of races.
(2:58 Jordan) It's obviously very difficult because Scott is riding World Superbikes.
(3:02) At the moment, we're just going round by round.
(3:04) We don't know how long Glenn's recovery is going to be.
(3:06) He's doing really well, but until he has this next check-up in about, is it about a week's time? (3:12) On the 15th of July, so he'll go there for his next check-up
(3:14) and then we might have a bit more of an idea of time frame.
(3:17) So, I mean, we'd love to keep Scott for as long as possible,
(3:20) whether that's one round, two rounds or five or ten years.
(3:23) It would be nice to keep him.
(3:25) He's been an asset to the team so far.
(3:27) So, yeah, I think we're going to have some exciting chats over the next few weeks
(3:32) and we'd love to get two bikes back out on the grid.
(3:34) That would be our aim.
(3:37) Next year, obviously, the new Ducati is coming out
(3:39) and I think as a team, you can develop with one rider,
(3:42) but I think the priority would be to have two.
(3:44) You've got that shared data; you've got different riding styles
(3:48) and that's how you develop a bike.
(3:50) So, it's a priority for us, isn't it?
(3:52) To get the budget raised to be back to two bikes would be an ideal spot for us.
(3:57) Check back at Brands Hatch and see where we're at.
(3:59 Frank) Yeah.
