I have a couple sliders. The thing I like about this slider is that it is small enough for me to fit inside my tripod bag. Because of this size it is really best for low and closeup shots. The slider does not have ball bearings but seems to use some sort of fabric like felt to get the sliding mechanism. I find I can get this to be as smooth as my other slider. It definitely takes practice to get a smooth slide. Sometimes I use a rubber band to help me.

You can mount a camera directly on this but I recommend getting a pistol grip or ballhead mount. Because the slider is lightweight and small, you can get away with using this slider on a photo tripod and don't need a stronger video tripod.

This can be attached to a tripod from either end of the slider or in the middle.
