If most theater writers and directors are men, this can strongly influence the way that women perceive themselves and are reflected on stage. A reality though that is not what they feel like belonging to and that doesn't reflect their true essence. In her speech, Cinzia Spanò explains the evolution of female characters throughout history and underlines the importance nowadays of letting women express their desire and change the reality on stage into one that really and deeply reflects themselves.
