Asikhulume I Combating GBV in South Africa

Gender-based violence is a profound and widespread problem in South Africa, impacting on almost every aspect of life.

GBV is directed against many women and girls. In many areas of South Africa, there is limited access to formal psychosocial or medical support for survivors of GBV contributing to psychological trauma and behavioural consequences with an inability to reintegrate into society.

With us heading towards the National Elections, are political parties doing enough to combat the scourge of GBV, have we have seen a change over the past 30 years of democracy?
