#13. SU HS4 Carburettor Part 1. How to get rid of Air Leaks on the Shaft!

Brilliant designs as they may be, SU carburettors do come with their own sets of problems. On an SU HS4, airleaks on the butterfly shaft can be a serious problem when it comes to loosing idling and messing up emissions and a lot of us end up chasing gremlins in our carburettors trying to figure out the issue. In this video I present a very simple, and super cheap fix in managing air leaks on the main shaft by using a pair of standard mini valve stem seals. Instead of throwing your old seals away, keep them in your tool box for a quick fix on the side of the road if and when an air leak pops up. This solution will not rectify a completely worn shaft leakage BUT it will restore idling and driveability on your mini until your spare parts come in and the repair is complete.
