The AHU TDI is still a very good engine for many swaps like the Suzuki Samurai and other tighter engine bays, but the ECU is very outdated and hard to work on, making performance changes and turbo options limited for these setups. Because the wiring is very similar to the newer ALH setup, converting the sensors to run off an ALH ECU can be very beneficial for upgrades and flash tuning capabilities. I was able to covert the wiring using mostly existing wire from both harnesses and keep the cost of the upgrade relatively inexpensive, in fact probably cheaper than even trying to get a performance tune for the original AHU ECU.
