Alexander Shorokhoff, founder and president of the German watchmaking company carrying his name, visited Maryland on August 16, 2018. Located in the small German village of Alzenau this boutique watch company produces slightly more than 1000 watches per year which are sold worldwide to collectors who appreciate unique timepieces. Mr. Shorokhoff was in town for his annual visit to authorized Alexander Shorokhoff dealer Little Treasury Jewelers, located in Gambrills, MD. The store is undergoing renovations, so it was decided to host a small dinner in Annapolis with Mr. Shorokhoff and several collectors of his watches. Also involved were a US representative of the brand and Mr. Adam Craniotes, noted watch expert and founder of the burgeoning watch collector association, RedBar Group. Alexander Shorokhoff watches express the personality of the company’s leader, witty, urbane, passionate and expressive. Themes from Shorokhoff’s country of origin, Russia, are explored in his designs as well as those from the Middle-East and beyond. References to music, literature, fine art and more abound, all woven into luxury watches in a manner that sets the house of Shorokhoff apart from almost all others. Combined with fine engraving and liberal use of color and textures the Shorokhoff collection fully expresses the concept of “Art on the Wrist.”
