126 Britons, seven Americans, seventeen Dutch and one Russian trapped behind enemy lines, a Dutch resistance network hiding and supporting them in the Veluwe area, a British secret intelligence agency planning and organising escape and evasion, a Belgian SAS operative working behind enemy lines, an American paratrooper unit on ‘The Island’, a Canadian company of engineers manning storm boats, and a race against time before the Germans find out what is happening.

These are the ingredients of the incredible story of the most daring and most successful attempt during WW2 to get a large group of soldiers, airmen and civilians trapped behind enemy lines back to safety in one single operation.
