Sajid Javid has detailed a ‘plan B’ winter Covid plan for England that could see the return of mandatory face masks in certain settings and working from home.

The Health Secretary said that the Government would only resort to this alternative plan should the NHS face “unsustainable” pressure this autumn and winter as flu season arrives.

He also said that the Government is holding in reserve the power to enforce Covid passports for entry to crowded events and settings.
