Muslim travel vlog exploring the oldest Ottoman village in Turkey 🇹🇷 | A powerful day in Bursa uncovering Islamic heritage, Turkish culture, and incredible local food.
In this episode, I set off from the heart of Bursa with one mission to find the oldest Ottoman village in Turkey, a place many call a hidden gem of Islamic history. With just a map and a dream, we began our journey to the famous Cumalıkızık village, known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture, cobbled streets, and deep-rooted Islamic identity.
Getting there wasn’t easy. We wandered the streets of Bursa, searching for a metro station while asking locals and figuring it out in real time. After catching the metro last-minute and with the help of kind strangers, we eventually made it to the minibus stop on the highway —a true adventure before even reaching the village.
Once we arrived at Cumalıkızık, the atmosphere changed. The village felt like walking through a living museum of Ottoman history. The streets were lined with traditional houses, Islamic gifts, old stone mosques, and vibrant Turkish culture. We stopped at a local café for fresh lemonade, explored Islamic souvenirs, and even bought a beautiful custom gift with our names written on it.
Then I found a mosque in the center of the village a beautiful, historic masjid but was surprised to hear children playing wildly inside. It was a surreal moment, a mix of history and daily life. Later, we found a roadside Turkish kebab stand no exaggeration, it served the best kebab I’ve ever had in my life. Completely homemade and bursting with flavor.
After returning to central Bursa, I visited a historic Ottoman mosque and tried solving my vlog upload struggles due to bad internet. I then climbed the Bursa clock tower beside the Grand Mosque for panoramic views of the city a breathtaking moment. We ended the day by visiting the tomb of Osman Gazi, founder of the Ottoman Empire, reflecting on his legacy and what this land means to Muslims today.
This day captured the essence of Islamic travel, heritage tourism, and discovering a side of Turkey that many people miss.
