What a condition for the police — while trying to resolve a dispute, the police themselves were attacked. A head injury was sustained, and they had to rush to the hospital. This has now triggered political tensions as well. On Friday morning, tension spread in the Gokarna Majhardhar Para area over a land dispute. Police from Kandi police station reached the spot. While trying to settle the conflict, Kandi Police Station IC Mrinal Sinha and another police personnel were attacked. Motorbikes were vandalized. Later, a large police force, led by the Additional SP and the SDPO of Kandi, reached the spot. A crackdown began, and the police detained 11 people from both groups.

Political back-and-forth has also started over the incident. BJP leaders claim that such events are happening because the police have been encouraging this kind of behavior.

However, the Trinamool district president said that such incidents are unacceptable and that the police will take appropriate action.

Since even the IC was attacked, tension remains in the area. Police have been deployed.
