Sospiri (Sighs) by Edward Elgar

The death of Her Majesty The Queen is a time of national loss and our condolences go to King Charles III and the Royal Family.

Constitutional monarchy was one of the innovations of the Enlightenment, creating the ideal that the institution was one of duty and service to the citizens of a nation. No-one has risen to that challenge as emphatically as The Queen and we are thankful for her dedication to the role and to the people of our nations.

Our home concert hall is named in her honour, the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre. We look forward to performing there again soon and remembering the values we share of progress, tolerance and community that The Queen sought to promote throughout her long life in public service.
