Are you coping effectively?

Описание к видео Are you coping effectively?

Avoidant coping strategies (think binge-watching TV or procrastination) can seem like a magician's disappearing act for our problems. 🎩✨ But the difficult emotions or tasks we're trying to avoid often have a way of popping up over and over again. 🐇

Multiple studies show that avoidant coping can work for us once or twice, but when we start using avoidant coping as our default strategy, there is an enormous cost to our wellbeing.

By repeatedly defaulting to avoidant coping strategies, we miss out on the opportunity to develop the skills to help us navigate challenging times.

So the next time you're tempted to pull out your trusty old avoidant coping strategy, see if you can move toward problem-focused coping instead.
