Longer Video Snow Blowing around the Mountains of Lake Tahoe

Описание к видео Longer Video Snow Blowing around the Mountains of Lake Tahoe

As a huge 3 day blizzard blew into the Lake Tahoe region, we try to stay ahead of it. The snow here is what the locals refer to as Sierra Cement. It is very wet and dense and packs to a hard mess. It clogs the best snow blowers, turns augers in to rolling pins and is heavy to remove. We prep the LS MT357 tractors blower (LS LW3174) with a coating of silicon both in the auger box area as well as the chut and it will still clog from time to time. Last winter was our first year with this LS tractor set up and it really worked well. The bang for the buck is great! This past fall we added 1.5" of UHMW to the cutting edge as well as some UHMW skid shoes. It really helps protect the pavers and asphalt surfaces here in the area. The down side is it pushes the snow a little more before it makes its way to the augers. When the temperature hangs around freezing the road surface freezes up so its slippery and then the blower just pushes the snow until the mass gets large and heavy enough to make its way into the augers. It looks wrong, but that's what happens in this region. The video doesn't show it very well but one of the hills we remove snow from (26 min in) is a 9% grade and very steep. When the snow gets over a foot, we have to drive up it and blow on the way down or the tractor just loses traction. Even with the 700 lbs ballast box on the 3 point hitch, it still will struggle. Might have to go to a set of chains.
We appreciate all of your interest and the views!!
