VW Golf MK7 (5G) interior ambient light installation (part 1)

Preparing for ambient interior light installation in Volkswagen #GolfMK7. This includes OEM door cards with interior door handle backlight, door handle LED and illuminated LED strip. All lights in white. I'm also planning to add red/white warning lights underneath the door card, some illumination for the door compartments, also speaker light like in Audi A3 8V.

ℹ️ Golf R is using blue #ambient light, and Golf GTI is using red light. But I believe that the #LED strip in GTI and standard Golfs are the same, only wired differently. When I switch polarity the LED strip it changes between red and white.

ℹ️ Golf MK7 is build on an MQB platform shared with Audi A3 8V, Seat Leon 5F, Skoda Octavia 5E. In Seat the light strip is controlled by BCM and not by the door module. Thanks to that brightness and color can be adjusted according to current situation. For example switching between red and white when changing driving modes between sport and normal.

ℹ️ Check if your door control module supports this feature. If not you will have to replace you door modules or wire this illumination directly to different power source. I will share more details in part 2 of this retrofit tutorial.
