General Jeff's Rap Bio

RAP MUSIC BIOGRAPHY
General Jeff was born and raised in the inner-city of South Central Los Angeles when street gangs and drive-by shootings first got the attention of both national and international media outlets around the world. Never a member of a gang, Jeff navigated through the tough LA streets by playing sports and expressing his love of music in various ways. His musical talents include street dancing, something he was naturally gifted at which therefore made him extremely popular- pop-locking and roboting are still his specialties. He was also a local DJ that eventually joined legendary west coast DJ crew, Uncle Jamm’s Army, whose biggest efforts were DJ parties at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in the early-1980’s that each time drew estimated crowds of 10,000 “party people”. These types of “mega-parties” have never been equaled since.

General Jeff first started professionally writing, producing, recording, and mixing rap records (in the mid-1980s) on two albums with Bobby Jimmy and the Critters, who had the underground hit songs “Big Butt” and “(Look at all these) Roaches”. Later he joined West Coast legends Rodney O and DJ Joe Cooley and together the trio recorded three albums and had the hit songs “Everlasting Bass” (a West Coast Hip-Hop classic), ”Cooley High”, “This is for the Homies” and many more songs that made them one of the most well-respected Hip-Hop groups to ever come out of the Los Angeles area. They toured all across America and also in France, Canada and Brazil. Years later, many other rap artists, including rap superstar Lil Wayne, E-40, and Academy Award-winning rap group Three Six Mafia, who earned an Oscar for their soundtrack theme song on the hugely popular movie “Hustle and Flow”, have all sampled “Everlasting Bass”. Other songs produced and recorded by General Jeff have appeared in television shows such as “Malcolm in the Middle” and “So You Think You Can Dance”.

General Jeff’s music credits also include his work with fellow legendary West Coast Hip-Hop artists Ice Cube (Lethal Injection), Snoop Dogg (No Limit-Top Dogg), DJ Quik (3 albums – Safe and Sound, Rhythmalism, and Balance and Options), SugaFree (Street Gospel), Mausberg[RIP]- (Non-Fiction), SugaFree/Mausberg collaboration (Konnectid) and many more. General Jeff also performed with LL Cool J on Soul Train, the Arsenio Hall Show, and went on tour when LL had the hit song “Mama Said Knock You Out”.

General Jeff temporarily stopped recording, producing, and performing years ago and is currently a community activist, working with the homeless community and low-income residents in Skid Row, Downtown Los Angeles for the last ten years non-stop. He founded his own community activist organization, ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS in 2007, and served three consecutive terms on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) where he was the former VP of Outreach and Communications.

General Jeff intends to eventually return to the entertainment industry and resume his career as a West Coast Hip-Hop pioneer and actor- where he has been a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild (now SAG-AFTRA) since 1995. To date, General Jeff has played a part in numerous music and entertainment industry-related projects that have combined to sell hundreds of millions of CD’s, DVD’s, movies, books, and video games worldwide.
