Cooking & Eating Indigenous Food in Canada. Must See First Nation Experience

This video is in partnership with The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC). We visited various Aboriginal Tourism and cultural sites through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick where we learned so much, met some fantastic people and had fun cooking and trying Indigenous food for the first time.

We first visit Goat Island in Eskasoni, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to experience Eskasoni Cultural Journeys (https://destinationindigenous.ca/list.... Here you can go on a guided tour (either walking or golf cart). You make stops to various sites along the way, each with their own interpreter. We learned traditional dances, were taught about natural medicines and also got to cook bread on a stick over a fire.

In the second part of the video we went to Red Bank, New Brunswick (near Miramichi and along the Miramichi River) where we stayed at Red Bank Lodge (https://destinationindigenous.ca/list...) and went to the nearby Metepenagiag Heritage Park (https://destinationindigenous.ca/list.... After our tour we made our way outside where we made bread under a fire in the sand. It was our first time ever making bread and it was definitely interesting to cook it right in the great. We also had a full meal cooked over the fire including Moose meat meatballs (our first time trying moose meat), fiddleheads and tea.
