Region 8 Provincial Capital Cities and Municipalities / Eastern Visayas

1. Tacloban City, Leyte
Tacloban, officially known as the City of Tacloban, is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. The city is autonomous from the province of Leyte, although it serves as its provincial capital.

2. Maasin City, Southern Leyte
Maasin, officially known as the City of Maasin, is a 4th class component city and capital of the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 87,446 people. It has 70 barangays and located on the western part of the province with land area of 21,171 hectares.

3. Naval, Biliran
Naval, officially the Municipality of Naval, is a 2nd class municipality and capital of the province of Biliran, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 58,187 people.

4. Catarman, Northern Samar
Catarman, officially the Municipality of Catarman, is a 1st class municipality and capital of the province of Northern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 97,879 people. It is the largest municipality in terms of land area and population in the province.

5. Borongan City, Eastern Samar
Borongan, officially known as the City of Borongan, is a 1st class component city and capital of the province of Eastern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 71,961 people.

6. Catbalogan City, Samar
Catbalogan, officially known as the City of Catbalogan, is a 5th class component city and capital of the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 106,440 people. It is Samar's main commercial, trading, educational, financial and political center.
