"There are power outages. Sometimes the schedule is stable, sometimes not, but we understand that the situation in the country is like this. It is inconvenient, painful sometimes, especially when you have an electric stove for cooking. There is no light for about two or three hours. I am at work all day, but the neighbours say that during the day there are more outages, the interval is longer."

"The darkness weighs me down. The mood is sad, but we have to wait and believe. We live with hope, because it is much more difficult for our fighters and guys on the frontlines now."

STORYLINE:
Residents of Kyiv went about life on Friday with flashlights and candles, after Russia conducted a large-scale attack against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure a day earlier.

Russia on Thursday fired nearly 200 missiles and drones, leaving more than a million households without power.

The Ukranian capital's streets were filled with the sounds of generators.

Some neighbourhoods in Kyiv had electricity outages for more than 10 hours.

One resident said the darkness weighed down on her, especially when at home, but she was staying positive for those on the frontline bearing much worse conditions.
