Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch: Does it make sense for a man "safer in Ireland" to leave for Spain?

With "the gangland trial of the century" now concluded, Muireann and Alan are joined by Crime journalist Nicola Tallant to discuss the aftermath.

Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch was acquitted of the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in 2016.

There has been speculation about whether he will stay in the country.

Nicola Tallant asks why should he leave?

"He would be safer in Ireland."

"If you look at any other jurisdiction or country, there wouldn't be as the same attention to detail that there is here."

"There's obviously more than 70 members of the Kinahan organised crime group in prison."

"[The Kinahan organised crime group] have been dismantled in this country."

"In a way, like why should he run?"

Alan asks her if she sees the State trying to put any more charges against Gerard Hutch.

She does not know if they have the will to do another big trial.
