The SPEAR System was created by Tony Blauer in the late 70s and early 80s. Since then, it's been Coach Blauer's mission to "make the world safer."

In pursuit of this mission, he created a system that redefines self-defense and studies human movement as it relates to violence, fear, and aggression. It utilizes human psychology, physiology, and physics to help people learn to how to unlock their innate human weapon system.

As a SPEAR affiliate and certified level 1 instructor, I was invited to attend the first ever SPEAR Symposium this past weekend in San Diego. Over 3 days we covered numerous weapon protection drills and concepts, essential SPEAR drills, and how to effectively teach the drills to students and coach them to success.

This weekend gave me the opportunity to show all of the work I've put in over the last few months, studying and practicing SPEAR at a level I never have before. I upgraded my skills and knowledge of the system to the point where I was able to focus my attention at the course on applying the principles and concepts of the system to coaching, rather than learning the material and trying to remember information.
