Wake up early to get the first glimpse of Maldives' sunrise. Sunrise direction is at the same view as the underwater restaurant, makes us can’t wait to visit there. Breakfast is served at The Sand, their main restaurant on the island. An unlimited breakfast menu is available for ala-carte orders served to our table. Besides that, there is a breakfast buffet line option full of fruits, pastries, egg station, cereal, and cheese in their champagne room.

We enjoyed our free time on the island by playing water slides in our room, walking along the beach, and swimming in that crystal clear seawater. We booked our dinner months ago at H2O underwater restaurant, which is why we chose to stay at You & Me Maldives. All dinner guests gathered at the hotel lobby and took a 5 minutes cruise to the restaurant. Champagne was served and a tour to 6 meters below sea level unveiled the underwater restaurant behind a curtain.

There are only 3 underwater restaurants in Maldives has curved glass to the top and there we can get a 270-degree panoramic unobstructed view of the ocean bed, coral gardens and surrounding wildlife. You must be there to be seen to be believed! That is really only once in a lifetime experience especially the cuisine is made by four times Michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton. We are lucky to have dinner in this world’s first underwater restaurant branded with a Michelin-starred chef.

We are firstly welcomed by a shark swimming along the glass and the amazing interior paired with music, an absolute therapeutic dining experience. A fine dining 7-course menu, each course is served with its own pairing music and lots of fish watching us having our meal. Food is definitely at Michelin level, full of surprises in taste and texture. Food portions are considered bigger than usual as in the 7-course meal we got 3 main seafood dishes in a full plate such as calamari, scallops, and a whole tail lobster. We enjoyed our meal from a bright view of the sea until the night turned into a dark sea.

An Indian theme buffet night was happening at the main restaurant, we took our opportunity to try authentic Indian flavours, to see the differences between our local Malaysian Indian and authentic Indian cuisine. Everything on the buffet spread was familiar to me such as nasi briyani, masala, tikka, tandoori and many more. I took everything in small portions to try the flavours and what I say is the flavour is exactly the same compared to what I had in Malaysia.

On our way back to the room, we were invited by our butler to join outdoor cinema movie night which was their weekly special event. They moved all the beach chairs to the middle of the beach and a big screen was set in front of the sea. This was our very first experience to enjoy a movie with the sound of sea waves and bright stars in the sky.
