Karsha Gompa - The largest Monastery in Zanskar

Padum in Zanskar, has been accessible by road from Kargil for a few decades already. However it still retains a lot of that old world charm.
The Karsha Gompa is located at the base of a steep mountain, just 11km from Padum. It is all about old world charm and tradition. Now, one can easily drive/ride up to the main entrance.

The Gompa was built in the 10th Century AD and is the largest Monastery in Zanskar. About 80 monks belonging to the Gelukpa order live here.

Views of thr Doda river, it's valley and the mountains beyond are spectacular.

This is a magical place... you will have to figure out, how it will reveal itself to you.

The magic of this place was revealed to me only when I switched off everything and sat on a terrace. Watching the Clouds float by.
