Danny Jones shares adorable moment son Cooper, 6, found out he was Piranha on The Masked Singer UK as 5.4M tuned in to see McFly star crowned winner: 'It's Daddy!'

Danny Jones has shared the sweet moment his son Cooper found out it was his dad under the Piranha costume, as he won The Masked Singer UK on Saturday night.

The McFly guitarist, 37, beat out all the competition to take the crown during the highly-anticipated final, watched by 5.4 million viewers, before his identity was finally revealed.

He was correctly guessed by judge Davina McCall but she still couldn't believe it, with Danny telling her: 'You got me but you didn't believe it!'

And Danny took to his Instagram on Saturday to reveal that he had successfully kept everyone in the dark, even his own son.

He shared a video watching the unmasking with Cooper, six, and his wife Georgia Horsley, as the family chanted: 'Take it off!'

When it was revealed to be Danny under the mask, Cooper gasped in shock and yelled: 'It's daddy! It's daddy!'

His parents burst into laughter as Cooper jumped off the sofa and ran to climb on his dad's lap and hug him.

Host Joel Dommett commented on the adorable video, writing: 'To be fair this was my reaction too...'

Danny's McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher also shared his reaction to the big reveal, watching from home with his three sons, Buzz, nine, Buddy, eight, and Max, five.

The family all cheered and jumped around as Danny was unmasked, while Buzz declared: 'I knew it!'

Tom then shared another video to his Instagram addressed to Danny, expressing his congratulations and praising his bandmate on his 'unreal' performance.

He said: 'Danny ‘Piranha’ Jones, wow, congratulations mate. You gave some of the best vocals I’ve ever heard ever. They were unreal.

'I’m sure all McFly fans around the country have been screaming at their TVs for the last few weeks like my kids have because we, of course, know you can sing like that.

'We've been hearing you sing like that for the past 21 years, but what I think has been amazing is seeing how many people heard this incredible voice come from that Piranha and would never have guessed that it was that guy from McFly.

'And I think it just goes to show how underrated Danny has been for the past 20 years. It's taken him to stand on stage with a Piranha mask on to make people take a step back and realise Danny Jones, from McFly, has one of the all time greatest voices.

'God tier, up there, with the very best. How lucky are we that we have the voice of Danny Jones in our band.'

Tom concluded: 'Congratulations, Danny, it's been amazing and I hope you get to keep the mask! I'll see you soon!'

He then quipped at the end: 'Thought you smelled a bit fishy mate...'

The final saw Danny sing a stunning rendition of Lay Me Down by Sam Smith, with panellist Jonathan Ross declaring: 'I think that was the best performance, not just of this series but of any series. That was extraordinarily good.'

He fended off competition from fellow finalists Cricket and Bigfoot, who were revealed to be singer Lemar and comedian Alex Brooker respectively.

On winning the show, Danny said: 'It feels surreal. Everything about this show and everything about what I've just done is completely surreal! I have become a Piranha, and no longer Danny Jones!'
