It's a question explored by many great works of art across the years, but in this current moment, one of the most thoughtful takes on the question must be Harry Chapin's classic ballad, Cat's In The Cradle. Written alongside his wife Sandy, and inspired by her past experiences with her ex-husband, the song carefully balances the desire for love with a lack of communication that makes building that deeper connection impossible, as a tragic warning to prospective fathers everywhere.
