This video introduces non-dimensional interaction diagrams and some simple techniques to estimate the size of a concrete column. I have dubbed these the two secret weapons of concrete column design. Designing concrete columns can be challenging but with these tools, it becomes a lot easier. Non-dimensional interaction diagrams allow you to take almost any regular cross-section and find the amount of longitudinal steel needed for the given loading. If you know how to use these then you can design your columns very rapidly. I also give you two tools that are rapid ways to estimate the size of your columns in concrete structures.
