Pawopi - Vaka - Va‘a - Hukub - Canoe: Pia Okwai

Pawopi means boat or water vessel in Newe Taikwa (Shoshoni/Goshute). Enjoyed getting out on the water thanks to Marissa and Samoana from the Nature Center at Pia Okwai and Rachel from the Jordan River Commission along with kāinga, local community members, and friends from environmental humanities at the U. Paid our respects to the ancestral authority and asked permission of our non-human animal relatives whose home it is, and then had a great time in this precious urban green space we have access to on the west side of Soonkahni (Salt Lake Valley).
