The first thing I did when I landed in Mauritius was to trek Le Morne Brabant, one of the most picturesque mountain treks with a peak at 556 metres above sea level and its summit spans over 12 hectares (30 acres), with numerous caves and overhangs on its steep slopes.

Trekking Le Morne Brabant will take you around 3-4 hours, bearing in mind that it’s very steep and moderately technical at points; requiring scrambling and basic, grade-4 rock climbing abilities.

The Morne Cross (“fake” summit of the mountain),
is located a little further west—but it is the highest climbable point you can reach standing at an elevation of 490m.

Difficultly level: Moderate-Difficult.
